Topping

Overview

This guide is focused on how to complete Topping operations in Blended.

In Blended, Topping is done in two steps.

  1. Designate Lots that can be used for topping - this can either be a portion of a Lot or the entirety of a designated topping Lot

  2. Top the selected Lot with one or more of your topping Lots

Managing Topping Lots

Access Topping Lots

To designate a topping lot in Blended, follow these steps:

  • First, navigate to the Production section.

  • Select the All Lots tab.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the Topping Lots section.

If you have already designated a topping lot, it will appear in this section. If not, you will see nothing there.

Designate New Topping Lot

To designate a new topping lot, click the blue Designate Topping Lot button. This action will trigger a modal window.

In the Designate Topping Lot modal, you will find several input fields and options:

  • The Lot: field is a dropdown menu for selecting a lot.

  • The Name: field allows you to enter the name of the topping lot.

  • The Capacity: designate the volume of the portion to be used for topping.

  • The Description (optional): field is for adding additional details about the lot.

Once you have filled out the necessary information, you can either click Cancel to exit without saving or Save to designate the topping lot.

Make Sure to Click Save

In the 'Designate Topping Lot' modal, select a lot from the dropdown, enter a name, specify the capacity, and add a description. Click 'Save' to confirm or 'Cancel' to exit without saving.

Select Topping Lot

Once you have designated a topping lot, find it in the Topping Lots section. Select the checkbox next to the desired lot to mark it. With the lot selected, the Operation dropdown at the top of the screen will become active.

Click on it, and from the list of winemaking operations, choose Topping.

Complete Topping Operation

This action will open a modal where you can complete the topping operation by filling out the required fields, such as the quantity and date, and click Record.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, you can edit topping lots in Blended by selecting the topping lot, clicking the Designate Topping Lot button, and updating the details in the modal window.

  • If there are no topping lots, you need to create one by clicking the Designate Topping Lot button in the All Lots tab within Production.

  • To delete a topping lot, select the lot from the Topping Lots section and click the delete icon next to it.

  • Yes, you can use a portion of a lot for topping by selecting it in the Designate Topping Lot modal and specifying the volume.
