To create a new material in Blended, start by navigating to the Materials section. Locate the Create button at the top right of the screen and click on it. From the dropdown menu, select 'Material'.

Complete Material Form

A 'New Material' form will appear for you to complete.

  • Product name: Enter the name of the material, for example, RC212 or Citric Acid.

  • Type: Enables you to categorize groups of products within the tabs in Materials. Choose one of the populated options or create your own by typing in the field. Using types allows you to manage large amounts of raw materials and packaging.

  • Product category: Categorize like products within the categories provided or create your own by typing within the dropdown. Staying consistent with your categories is helpful when linking materials to your production protocols. For example, categories can include Acid, Yeast, Glass, Corks, etc.

  • Batches: Enter details for the batch associated with the material. You must include the batch name or code and available quantity. Received and Expiration dates are optional fields unless the product is a TTB Trackable material such as sugar or spirits.

Selecting the correct category and providing accurate batch details are important steps. Proper categorization ensures that materials are organized and easily trackable. Accurate batch information helps in maintaining inventory records and compliance.

After entering all required details, click the Save button to create the new material. If you need to cancel the process, click the Cancel button.

Avoid Compiance Headaches

Accurate data entry is critical, especially for batch details such as received date and expiration date. Mistakes can lead to compliance issues and affect production quality.

Understanding Product Categories

Product categories in Blended are broad classifications used to organize winemaking materials. These categories help you manage and locate specific materials easily. Examples include yeast, acid, enzyme, and sugar.

We recommend creating generic categories for better organization and flexibility. For instance, you could use a general category like 'yeast' instead of a more specific brand name. This approach allows you to group similar products under one category, making it easier to manage and track batches over time.
