Receiving Grapes, Juice, and Bulk Wine
Navigate to Production.
Click the orange Create button with a dropdown carrot
From the dropdown, select Receive Grapes/Juice.
Fill in details within the Receive Grapes/Juice form, including weight information.
Click the checkbox next to Lot Source in the Intake table that you'd like to use.
Click the Create Lot button that appears underneath the Intake section.
Intake
Using the intake process creates a Lot Source and a weigh tag.
To create a Lot Source in Blended, start by navigating to Production and clicking the orange Create button at the top right of the dashboard. Then, select Receive Grapes/Juice from the drop-down menu.
Type
Type will default to Grapes. If you are receiving bulk juice or bulk wine, change this option. Doing so will shift the weight portion below to a volume.
Block
If you are receiving fruit from a single block and that block is loaded into Blended, choose the block from the dropdown. This will autofill relevant vineyard and composition information.
We highly recommend ensuring that Blocks are entered into the Vineyard section of Blended prior to receiving fruit from them.
Name
Blended will automatically suggest a name. We recommend sticking with this name unless you have a strong preference. This is NOT the Lot name. You'll have the opportunity to assign a Lot name after intake is complete.
Naming contentions throughout Blended must be unique. If you already have something with the suggested name, you will see an error prompting you to ensure the name is unique.
Field Blend/Add to Composition
Depending on what you are receiving (grapes or juice/bulk wine) you will see a button labeled Field Blend or Add to Composition. If you are receiving material that has a complex composition, ie a blended bulk wine, use this button to specify all the individual composition components.
Composition to specify:
Variety
Clone
Vintage
State
County
AVA
Estate
Container/Location Info & Custom Tags
Click on this label to expand additional fields for the weigh tag. If you've connected the material to a Block, the known composition fields will be completed. Add additional details here as desired.
Enter Weight Ticket Details
Ensure you set the type to either Grapes, Bulk Juice, or Bulk Wine, depending on what you are receiving.
Record the weights in the Weights section.
Bin #: This is an optional field. You may specify this if you track bins.
Gross: This is a required field. Enter the gross or total weight if you aren't tracking tare weights.
Tare: Enter the tare weight, ie, the weight of the container, here. If you do not track tare weights, leave this blank.
If you have additional containers, use the + icon to add them to the weight ticket. Once you have entered all the necessary information, click the Create button at the bottom right to finalize and create the weight ticket.
Record Weights Accurately
Ensure you record the weights of grapes, juice, and bulk wine accurately. This enhances your data accuracy throughout the winemaking process.
Issue Weigh Tag
Issue weigh tag is an option that is automatically checked. If the weigh tag you are working on isn't ready to be finalized, uncheck this box before you hit save. This will enable you to make edits to the form before a weigh tag is finalized.
Making Changes After a Weight Tag Has Been Finalized
When a weigh tag is completed, Blended automatically assigns a sequential number. If you need to make changes to the weigh tag after this point, you can. Edit the weight and ensure the box is checked to Void and Reissue. This will void the previous weigh tag with a record and reissue it under a new number.
Initial Lot Allocations and Weigh Tag
At the bottom of the Lot source screen, you will find additional tables for Initial Lot Allocations and Weigh Tag. As the material received is consumed, the Initial Lot Allocations table will populate with the initial Lot(s) created using the received materials and the portion of material used.
When a weigh tag is finalized, the weigh tag portion of the table will populate. This table will show any active or voided weigh tags associated with this intake. Use the checkbox next to the weigh tag to view a pdf of the finalized weigh tag.
A complete history of weigh tags are available within the Compliance section of your Blended platform.
