Overview
When setting up a product that's specifically tracked by the TTB, see the guidelines below to ensure proper tracking. These products include items such as Spirits, Sugars, and Fruit.
If your additive list is long, consider keeping TTB trackable materials on their own tab for organization and easy compliance checks.
Spirits
When setting up Spirits Products, set up a new Product for different Proof Levels. Blended tracks spirits in wine gallons. This makes it easier to verify inventory and make additions. We store proof at the Product level so that we can automatically convert those gallons to proof gallons on the TTB form.
The fields below are specific to Spirits:
Tax Class: Spirits
Proof: Whatever proof your product is
When adding a batch to your product, ensure that you choose a Received Date. This helps Blended link the product to the correct TTB reporting period.
If you do not see your spirits show up on your TTB form, double-check that the Product is listed with a Tax Class of Spirits and that the batch has a Received Date within the reporting period.
Sugar (All Types)
When setting up a Sugar product, choose either the Dry Sugar or Liquid Sugar tax class. Choose depending on the measurement type in which you receive the batches. For example, pounds would be dry sugar, and liters would be liquid sugar.
Fruit
Any fruit other than grapes is received through the Materials section. This includes Apples for making Cider, fruit concentrates, or fruit juices.
Choose either the Materials Other than Grape tax class when creating the product.
The Product Name will be used for the column header within the TTB form. For customers who use lots of different fruit concentrates, we typically recommend a single product and specify the flavor of concentrate at the Batch level.
