Create a Lot

Overview

To create a Wine Lot in Blended, you must first navigate to the Intake dashboard under the Production tab. This is typically under Processing but may vary depending on your setup.

When creating a Lot, you may consume less than the full weight or volume on the weigh tag. Doing so will leave the remainder in the Intake table, allowing you to create multiple Lots from the same intake.

Creating a Lot

Step-by-step
  1. Navigate to the Intake table, use the checkbox next to the intake you want to consume

  2. Click the 'Create Lot' button

  3. Enter the lot details, including creation date, lot ID or name, weight, approximate volume, and custom tags

  4. Select a production protocol

  5. Allocate a vessel, if needed

  6. Click 'Save' to save the lot

Lot Creation Form

The Create Lot form in Blended is used to input the details needed to create a new production lot. This form includes several fields and options that you need to fill out to capture important information about the lot.

  • Creation Date: Enter the date when the lot is created. This helps in tracking the lifecycle of the lot. Creation date must occur after the received date on the weigh tag.

  • Lot ID or Name: Provide a unique identifier or name for the lot. This makes it easier to reference the lot in future operations.

  • Weight: Input how much of the weight or volume you are allocating to this Lot. Any remaining amount will be available for you to use on other Lots.

  • Approximate Volume of 1 Ton of Fruit: Specify the approximate volume equivalent to 1 ton of fruit. Choose the unit of measurement from the dropdown menu.

  • Production Protocol: Select the production protocol to be followed for this lot. This ensures consistency in the production process.

  • Optional Vessel: Choose a vessel or a group of vessels for storing the lot. You do not need to specify a vessel at this stage, you will still be able to record actions against the Lot even if it isn't in a vessel.

  • Create Group: If the Lot is going into multiple vessels, use the Create Group button to specify more than 1 individual vessel. Blended will automatically create a grouping.

  • Custom Tags: Add any custom tags that might be helpful for identifying or categorizing the lot. These tags can be used for advanced filtering and search.

Custom Tags

Custom tags can be used to structure your production data. They allow you to create a field and related values. Once you create a custom tag, it will show up automatically as an option for other similar objects.

Once created, tags are available as columns you can add within the Production table. This allows you to easily create custom reports or filters based on the tags you are using.

A few ways wineries leverage tags

  • Denote Client: For wineries with custom crush or AP clients, add a client field to make it easy to see which wines belong to which client. A client tag can also be used to manage custom permissions or filter the TTB Report

  • Allocation: Use an allocation tag to support use planning for wines in process.

Use Tags as a way to simplify complex Lot Naming conventions. Many wineries use complex, abbreviated codes to denote details such as vintage, variety, vineyard, owner, and more within a Lot name. Rather than using complex code, use tags to structure the data, making it easier to search.
